[about THEKNITOWL]
As an unintended side-effect of mass-fashion consumption, everyone seems to buy the same clothes, shoes and accessories from companies not interested with your identity. We slowly homogenize ourselves like dairy milk. This is undesirable to the discerning shopper and anyone with a sense of individualism. THEKNITOWL is doing its part to contribute to the wonderful emerging INDIE FASHION/CRAFTS revolution.

THEKNITOWL scours the town for cute vintage fabrics - whether it is in the form of curtains, tablecloths, or old clothing. THEKNITOWL recycles vintage textiles which gives each product an individual identity and makes sustainable use of beautiful prints and textures from the “Old School.” Now you can rest easy and never have to worry about bumping into someone else with YOUR BAG!

[about Amby]
I was born and raised in Alabama and had parents who always emphasized the importance of creativity and being an individual. My dad is an amazing carpenter and my mom is very crafty. We were always working on some type of craft whether it was sewing, painting, baking, or woodwork.

My mom told me that one day I would be glad to have been taught these things. As a child I thought sewing was too difficult to fuss with and I hated patterns, so I never really got into it. However, once I finished college and stepped into the “real world” I realized that sitting behind a desk all day was not for me! Around that time I started knitting and fell in love with it. It reenergized my creativity, so I bought a sewing machine and started to relearn what my mom had taught me many years before. It slowly came back to me and next thing I knew I couldn’t stop sewing.

I never intended to turn it into a business, but I have received such a great response from friends and family that it seemed like the best way to go! I am currently making everything at my home in Oklahoma with help from my husband, Nathan and 3 kitties: Isabell, Sherman and Ele.
